Safeguarding &
Child Protection Policy

At Elara Dancewear, the safety, wellbeing and happiness of young dancers are really important to us.

We want everyone involved with Elara to feel safe, comfortable, respected and valued.

The following is in line with The Children Act 1989/2004 and The Date protection Act 2018

Our Commitment

We are committed to treating all children and young people with kindness, respect and care.

We believe every child deserves to feel safe and included, regardless of their age, background, abilities or individual needs.

We take any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing seriously.

Both Sally Nunn and Rebecca Robinson hold Enhanced DBS checks and are licensed chaperones.

We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and are committed to creating a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for every young dancer involved with Elara Dancewear.

Photoshoots & Events

When working with young dancers, we aim to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.

  • Obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian before involving children in photoshoots or promotional activities.

  • Ensure appropriate adult supervision is in place. All photographers used are vetted and children are never left unsupervised.

  • Respect children’s privacy, dignity and personal boundaries.

  • Never pressure a child to take part in an activity or pose they feel uncomfortable with.

  • Make reasonable adjustments to support individual needs.

  • Ensure photographs and promotional content are appropriate and respectful.

Photography & Social Media

We love celebrating our dancers and sharing their beautiful photographs. However, their safety and privacy will always come first.

  • Obtain parental or guardian consent before using children’s photographs for marketing.

  • Never publish a child’s full name or personal details without separate permission.

  • Only use photographs for the purposes agreed with parents.

  • Store photographs securely and limit access to those who need it.

  • Only retain photographs for as long as required for any stated purpose after which they will be securely destroyed or deleted.

  • Respect requests to withdraw consent and take reasonable steps to remove photographs within our control.

  • Avoid sharing information that could compromise a child’s safety or privacy.

Raising a Concern

If a parent, child or anyone involved with Elara has a concern about safeguarding, we encourage them to contact us.

All concerns will be taken seriously, handled sensitively and shared only with those who need to know.

Where necessary, we will seek advice from or report concerns to the appropriate safeguarding authorities.
